Night was Fire

It was raining when I got back to Taipei. I went by the bridge to meet up with RMJ and met about 40 other dudes there, sheltering from the storm. They got better since the last time I've been, but I could barely skate. I did 17 though.

After an hour, they turned out the lights because they hate skaters and we beered up and wandered to the three stair. Right before the lights popped out and a loud diesel came online and smoke started pouring out of the building next door, we noticed a weird guy upstairs in a window where normally there isn't anyone. A scooter stopped under the place where the smoke was pouring out of, and I think they called the fire department, because after a while, an ambulance showed up, and then drove away. Later, some miniature fire trucks arrived, and after a few minutes, some firemen offloaded and then found their breathing tanks and used them to stand on the sidewalk and shine flashlights inside the windows. There was a significant pause in activity while they moseyed around and the alarms shrieked and the smoke poured.

We watch from across teh street. It's a large and busy street, but no one thought about bringing any police to direct traffic through the smoke and blacked out traffic lights until about the 20 minutes mark. Noone died in the interim, at least outside of the building. A fireman sped off on scooter, with no helmet or lights on, in a firesuit. Some other flashing lights people came and went and a small crowd gathered at hte park.

We got bored. The entire block was out of electricity. It was time to call it a night.
