It was already almost lights out, but I couldn't stand being cooped up on a dry night, so I decided to head to the bridge despite the flu. Many homies were there but the session really wasnt what i was looking for, so after a few hours of warm up, i felt ready to strike out on my own. dont laugh, at my age, i really cant do much without three hour sof warm up, but I get tired after 4 hours of skating. it kind of limits what i can acomplish.
i wandered back home and went east into the great unexplored wilderness of taipei. the night started out wet, which is why i went to the bridge for a gym session, but soon the streets dried and like a hobo hearing the whistle of a passing freight, i just couldnt stay around with all those bridge folk, no matter how much i love them.
I went to many strange and new 7-11's, and skated across many various tiles, some patterns familiar, some bizarre and creepy. At no point did I slam, so it wasn't a totally fulfilling night, but getting lost in Taipei made up for it. At one point, I was out near the arena, and grinded a ledge as I cruised by. this was a mistake, bceause the best I can figure, someone with a security television saw it, and after that, i was hounded by security. they were parked on the spots before i even arrived. fuck all yall well poisoners.
Instead of hitting the good spots, i surfed the sidwalks. if anything, it was better than the alternative.
I constantly found my path blocked by construction, and I constantly found the roads smooth like black glass. This is because it's New Asphalt Season. It's the glorious time of year when annual budgets are up and every single part of taiwanese society has to spend whatever money remains in their departments' budgets, no matter how stupid or how wasteful. blessedly, the roadworks department spends their remaining budget by repaving the same shit they repaved a year ago. there is so much left over money that the entire city is repaved and born anew liked a bitumen pheonix.
I skated to her eand to there. I bought beers from some of my favorite 7-11 clerks. I got almost too drunk to skate, but after years of practice, I'm pretty good at judging that very fine line, and I made it home unscathed, but this narrative is probably suffering for it.
I don't like to plug, but there is a song called "baking holiday." it's worth checking out.
